Decision making

Decision making

Today, we’re breaking down the Day 13 OkLiga match between Voltregà and Liceo, which ended in a 3-1 victory for Liceo. Notably, Marti Serra, Liceo’s goalkeeper, continues to shine. I’ve followed him since his days at Lleida, and his recent form has been nothing short of phenomenal. If you haven’t already, you must check out his latest highlights.

However, today’s focus isn’t on Marti—it’s on how a single poor decision can change the course of a play.

My Not-So-Humble Analysis

Wide & Deep

The sequence begins with Gerard Teixidó (Voltregà Nº21) under heavy pressure from César Carballeira (Liceo Nº5) at 4. Teixidó manages to shake off the defender and passes the ball back to Arnau Canal (Voltregà Nº43), positioned closer to his own area at the opposite side.

Long Diagonal

With no immediate pressure, Canal stops the ball and starts skating toward Liceo’s half. As Canal crosses into Liceo’s territory, Bruno Saavedra (Liceo Nº13) and Carballeira step up defensively, closing in. Approaching the halfway line, Canal lines up one of his signature slap shots.

However, Bruno is perfectly positioned, and the shot ricochets off his shin pads, neutralising the attack.
