Is this the fastest kid in class?

Today, we’re breaking down the OkLiga Day 20 match between Lleida and Calafell, which ended in a 5-2 victory for Lleida.

Both teams are regulars in this newsletter, and whenever they face off, there’s always something worth highlighting.

Keep reading, I’m looking at you.

How to Follow the Breakdown:

  1. Watch the video.
  2. Read the analysis.
  3. Match it with the play (start at 7:44).

A Young Talent Steps Up

Our main character today is still a kid—at least compared to the veterans around him.

Born in 2005, Ishak Bouda (Calafell Nº22) made his presence felt in this game.

One match, one goal. Simple as that.

Deep Floor

The sequence starts with Jan Escala (Calafell Nº6):

  • He skates up the wall and plays a pass to Aleix Marimon (Calafell Nº74).
  • Marimon stops the ball, standing still, and sets up his shot from position 0.

Mistake??

Now, here’s where things get interesting.

Is this a mistake by Marimon?

👀 Let’s break it down:

  1. He stops the ball completely before shooting.
  2. He takes his time.
  3. There’s no defender pressing him.

In my opinion, most players shouldn’t be stopping the ball flat like this.

But here’s the thing: not all “mistakes” are wrong.

When I say “mistake,” I mean it in terms of probability. On average, this type of play doesn’t work out well for most players.

Marimon, however, is not the average player. He’s got a powerful shot and time to set up.

The Goal: Right Place, Right Time

Marimon misses the shot, and the ball rebounds off the back wall.

And guess who’s already there, reading the play?

Ishak Bouda.

First, he tries to deflect the ball.

When that doesn’t work, he reacts instantly, grabs the rebound, and scores.

Smart positioning. Quick reflexes. Nicely done, kid.
