It is all about timing

Getting the Ball

Reus regains possession, but Barça responds with a quick transition. Arnau Canal (Reus Nº49) controls the ball in a good position, but by the time he’s ready, all Barça players are already back in their positions. Quick transitions are often praised by coaches, but when the opposition has an advantage in positioning, it’s not always the best option. Canal waits, clearing space as Joan Salvat (Reus Nº5) provides a block to release pressure.

Transition

Now the play begins. After the block, Canal skates forward with no pressure. Marc Julia (Reus Nº15) crosses paths with Canal, opening up one side for him while Salvat and Marc Julia balance out on the opposite side.

3

Everything slows down as they reach position 3. Maxi Oruste (Reus Nº8), on the same side as Canal, turns and skates backwards, facing Canal and asking for the ball. Canal passes to Oruste and cuts in towards position 7, while Oruste holds at 3.
