When your goal appetite makes a goal against

We are back another week, and to the same game as last week. Really good game to analyse. Saying this. I would love for you to go and check the highlights from the European competitions. I will try to bring some analysis from that competition.

Today we are going back to the Okliga day 26 between Liceo and Voltrega . The game ended 5-3 for the locals.

So now, spread the roller hockey word

As a reminder, Follow this steps:

  1. Take a look at the video:
  2. Read and think about the analysis.
  3. Match the analysis and the video. Min 0:50

Even the top players in the world make terrible decisions. And here we have one example of how egos have a dark side.

We start the analysis with Liceo’s ball recovery. Pablo Cancela (Liceo Nº64) recovers the ball. A weird action but so accurate. He swaps the mark to help his team mate. The swap was a bit risky but it needed to be done.

As soon as he recovers the ball, Liceo starts the transition. That quickly becomes a counter attack. Liceo set up two lanes, right and left. Cancela quickly passes to Fabri Cioccale (Liceo Nº9) who is in a more advantageous position.

At the stage Liceo arrives at Voltrega's side, Liceo has set up a 4 on 3 situation. Fabri passes back to Tato Ferrucio (Liceo Nº77) who is on the opposite side. Letting the transition breath.

Fabri cuts in. Tato passes the ball back to Cancela who is on the side but skating in. Here comes the problem. Voltrega has two defenders next to Cancela. Cancela is looking for the dribbling. But the dribbling in between the two defenders. Which in my humble opinion looks bad. I will say that the risk is not worth it at all. Especially when you look at the score.

Guess what. The dribble goes bad. Voltrega starts the counter of the counterattack. Leaving Liceo in a really bad situation. 4 on 3 means that one Voltrega player is on the other side. This player is Alex Rodriguez (Voltrega Nº27). At the same time there are 3 Liceo players in between 9 and 7. And only one, just one, facing with his skates towards their goal cage.
