Intensity
In today's text I want to highlight one thing on top of everything and it is the intensity Lleida puts on the game. It is impressive how this team played this goal.
As a reminder, Follow this steps:
- Take a look at the video:
- Read and think about the analysis.
- Match the analysis and the video. Min 0:35
The video starts with a Lleida player skating with the ball towards 9. The player quickly passes the ball to the side. This player is skating backwards towards the halfway line. The player that passed the ball cut into the wall, following the same direction he was following.
Chino Miguelez (Lleida N7) skates towards 9 with the ball. An area that is free from defenders because the Lleida player that was there cleared the space. When Chino skates in, quickly passes the ball to the player on the side he was skating to. And Nuno Paica (Lleida N5) skates back to Chino’s earlier position. And Chino cuts in, the same as Paiva earlier on. I can say this is Lleida rotation.
Chino breaks the rotation by putting a block on his teammate, Jordi Badia (Lleida N63). Both defenders jumped to cover Badia, while Chino was skating backwards. You can see how Paiva’s defender supported the defence as well. On this move, Badia dragged 2 defenders and forced a third one to balance the situation.
Badia passes the ball back to Chino, Badia keeps skating towards 7. Chino skates with the ball until 3. The inner player, Tombita (Lleida N44), puts a block on Chino. Chino skates and passes back to Badia located at the opposite side. There is some space in the middle, because the defender lines are broken.
Badia, in a touch, passes to Paiva while Chino keeps skating, dragging the defender with him, and giving Paiva that space at the opposite side. Paiva opens the space skating towards 0. Tombita is waiting for Paiva at 3. Paiva passes to Tombita and passes back in a touch.
Look at this move now, Tombita does not put a block on Paiva, he skates slowly and does a screen for Paiva. Paiva skates next to the wall without a defender, giving him time to think. But by the time Paiva gets to 3, Tombita pushed back both defenders. Paiva stops at 3 and skates in shooting straight away.
I know this sounds complicated, it does because if you try on your home club, I bet it wont work. Not because of your lack of skill with the ball. Because of the poor skill of your team mates without the ball. I always say the same thing, without the movement of the players without the ball, this play would not have happened. So the goal would have not go into the score board.
Grab a stick & keep skating! Or not
