Liceo is playing at 7 in Vigo. For me as I understand and enjoy hockey, this is amazing news. The clip starts when a Liceo player is stopped at 4. I think this player is Dava Torres (Liceo N8). Arnau Xaus (Liceo N3) skates from the opposite side into 7, while Toni Perez (Liceo N57) is skating towards the opposite side but going throw 7.
Xaus and Perez cross behind the cage while Dava is stopped at 4. Kinda an interesting move to be honest. Dava passes to Xaus while Perez is skating in front of him. Xaus double passes while skating towards Dava, and Dava skates towards 3. Moving the game towards a dangerous position.
At the same time Xaus is putting a block on Dava. Perez skates back to 7. Dava passes to Perez and cuts in. Well he does not cut it is more like slow skating. Such a Dava move. Dava and Xaus look at each other and when they get to the penalty point, Dava cuts towards the right and Xaus to the opposite side. Perez passes to Dava who is skating towards 7, while Perez skates straight into the second post. Ready to get the pass.
Perez holds the position at the second post, while Dava skates all the way behind the goalie, coming out from the same side as Perez. Dava skates out, and passes to Xaus. Xaus, who was at 7, starts skating towards 7 again. The important thing is that he opens up by skating towards 4 and then 7.
But we can not see how he skates towards 7, he passes to Perez who is facing Xaus. Perez gets the ball and in a tap can spin and for the second tap he is already shooting. Taking into a big surprise the defender and the goalie. That is how Perez scored.
Let's think about what just happened, especially Mr. Toni Perez. Toni Perez is one of the best players in the inner areas, and this a master class. When Dava was skating out, Toni Perez was holding the defender in between the goalcage and him. Limiting the defender's moves, but most importantly, he won the position and he had a pass line with Dava. After that he stayed really close to the goalcage, and still position won. When Xaus gets the ball, he waits. And Xaus starts skating towards him, Toni Perez slowly skates towards 9. By the time the defender realises, Toni Perez has the ball and is spinning. If Toni did not get the position earlier, it would have been easy for the defender to stop him. But Toni got the defender moving towards him.
So nothing else to say about this move. Just do it at your risk, the risk you may be to the opposition.
Grab a stick & keep skating! Or not
