Individual risks

In this sport everything is about decision making. This is a really fast sport and a bad decision, even a slow decision can turn into a goal. How crazy, right?

Allow me to say something, it may be unpopular. Decision making matters when you can understand what is the right decision.

In this clip we will see the perfect definition of a risky move, at the end I will say a few extra things, so finish the text lazy reader.

At the beginning of the clip we can see how Igualada is looking for a block. Before breaking this down lets see their position. We can see 3 players from each team. Igualada is attacking and they have one player on the halfway line, on the center; one the side on the halfway line; and the third one coming from 3 at the opposite side. Kind of doing a triangle shape.

The player skating towards the halfway line has the ball. Roger Bars (Igualda N22) (in the center) puts a block on him. Two Liceo players are on the block and a third defender is really close. The block does not work to get the space for the ball carrier. So he passes the ball to the opposite side player, who opens up the space by skating towards his own floor.

I will say that the goal of that block was not the space for a goal opportunity. It was to get the defender off Biel Llanes (Igualda N3). Llanes, passes the ball and slowly puts a block on the defender as the defender is getting closer to the attacker. This attacker is Miguel Cañadillas. This is a smart move from Igualda, but in my non-request opinion, Llanes made a mistake by putting a block. The path for Cañadillas is not clear now.
